Australian Bush Balladeers Magazine Update - February 2013

Hello Everyone

Another Tamworth Country Music Festival done and dusted. We had our ‘Memories Trail Show’ with many artists performing to an appreciative crowd and we thank them all for a wonderful evening of country music, ballad style. We also played on the Tamworth Town Hall stage a couple of times and just love the atmosphere of that building. I never cease to wonder at the amazing feeling of standing on that stage where so many of our artists have stood and played before us. It really is the Australian version of the Ryman Theatre ‘Grand Ole Opry’.

At the Festival, Peter and I were finalists in the CMAA Golden Guitar Awards again this year for ‘Bush Ballad of the Year’ with our song Old Tobacco Tin and congratulate Graham Rodger for his win. Really pleased for you mate. I did come home with the Peoples’ Choice Award for Female Vocal and I thank everyone who voted for me, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your support and encouragement for my music, it means so much to me.

Late last year, I had the pleasure of a holiday in Hong Kong with my two daughters Leanne and Alissa. We really enjoyed our time there but with all the crowds, we were happy to be home again. Alissa has moved to Adelaide to take up a new job with Channel Ten on the ‘Totally Wild’ show, so keep an eye out for her as Alissa Smith, their new presenter. She is certainly having some hands on time learning about animals with some very amusing stories to tell.

Very pleased to say that the Reg Lindsay Bronze Bust will be unveiled in Tamworth during the Hat’s Off Festival in July, we’d love to see you there, but more about that in the next Bulletin.

I’ve started work on my new album which is being produced by Rod McCormack. It’s an exciting time recording and seeing your songs come to life and I will have the album ready for when we go on tour with Keith Jamieson and Alisha Smith in June/July this year. We will be showing in towns in NSW, Victoria and South Australia so check the gig guide at a closer date and hopefully we will be in a town near you.

In November, we attended the wedding of Jay Podger and Corina Sheils at Old Khancoban, a beautiful setting for a beautiful couple. We wish them and their family every happiness in life.

Anne Kirkpatrick and I took our Daughters of Country show on the road again in November to some new venues along with Anne’s son James Arneman and Peter and hope to be touring again in May.

Our Australian Bush Ballad radio show is aired each Saturday at 5pm and Tuesday at 8pm. Listen online at www.todayscountry 94one.com and click ‘Listen Live’. Send us an email at ‘todayscountry94one.com’ to request a track. For further information call 0401095306.

We would like to make a note of recognition to the ‘Coad Family’ for all their hard work and dedication in helping to promote the music we all love.

Til next time, travel safe,
